Visit SiteMundoAnimalia was originally founded as the go-to destination for anything pets, housing everything from pet advice to veterinary directory. The website was founded by a large Spanish media conglomerate, also operating other websites in different verticals (health, travel and so on)
Despite its great potential, the previous owners realized that the platform was probably in better hands of someone fully focused on the pet vertical – enter PetMediaGroup. In 2022, PetMediaGroup acquired MundoAnimalia, which meant that we could begin our journey of creating the safest and most transparent destination for pets to find new homes in Spain!
Within weeks after our acquisition we launched multiple safety functionalities in order to make the platform more safe – KYC identification and a safe payment system.
As owners of the business, we became a strong voice in pushing for stricter regulations around animal welfare. Less than two years after our acquisition Spain introduced a legal ban on pet shops, alongside a number of additional animal welfare-enhancing regulatory changes.
In 2024 our business grew over 400%, driven by strong inflow of reputable and experienced breeders seeking a more tailored experience.
